For The Love Of The Game

For any of you parents/grandparents that spent countless hours traveling to watch your kids when they were younger, hours sitting in your car during hitting lessons, practices, etc.  for the sweaty, hot games on the field-  the stinky uniforms, the empty water bottles/gatorades that covered your car.  For the tears shed from a strike out or missed play… I know that if you watched the below video, you would shed a happy tear –  it would bring back all of those memories for YOUR family-  It is what kids live for if they play the game…

Lyla, my oldest and her team, the Lady Diamonds, were at the National Tournament  this weekend.  These girls had one of those games you will NEVER forget!  It was the first game of bracket play-  up against an incredible team-  we would definitely be considered the underdogs.

We were down 2-0.  Both pitchers were crushing it, so it was a super low scoring game.  It was our last at bat, so this was it.  Bases are now loaded, 1 out, FULL COUNT and she has fouled off three.  Finally, a hard hit ground ball that got past the second baseman to drive in three runs!!!  And as a proud momma, that batter was Lyla.  Even better?  Mark and his dad (her grandpa) are two of her coaches. The excitement from the team was nothing less than incredible (you will see on the video).  These are memories that team sports live for!!

It’s not the wins (although they crushed this year), it is the memories with your teammates.  It is teaching you hard freaking work, discipline, overcoming adversity, how to battle back and how to lose with grace.  I hope the time my kids spend participating in sports prepares them for all the life skills we believe shaped us (as their parents) for life success.  Twelve years ago Mark and I opened our Chiropractic practice with $-5 in our bank account.  We battled, we outworked others, we never gave up and there were times we lost with grace.  We learned those skills from playing sports.

This year I cried more times than I can count watching these girls play; and watching Mark coach.  He loves each of these girls like his own. These memories will stay with me forever and someday I hope to watch my grandkids do the same thing!   This isn’t much of a chiropractic blog, but more of a life enjoyment post.  Our care is designed to help you enjoy your life.  To be your best-  to watch and play catch with your grandkids; to feel good so you can do these things!  So chronic conditions do NOT rob you of your happiness. With all my heart I hope you can enjoy these moments and they will hold a forever spot in your soul.

If you are REALLY now in the baseball/softball mood, join us Saturday night for our outdoor showing of A League of Their Own.  A free will donation fundraiser for the Lady Diamonds.  We will have a full concession stand and a ton of fun.  Grab your chairs and we will see you Saturday night!
