Life is so beautiful… Dr. B and I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very special and late Happy Mother’s Day! We hope you all had the perfect day.
I spent the weekend at a softball tournament for Lyla, my oldest. The game of softball sounds so simple – you throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball…Simple, right? Well, for most of you who know me well, you know I did NOT play ball sports of any kind. But, I am in the process of learning. So, in the game this weekend Lyla was at bat with two outs in the last inning. (Luckily, they were winning the game) She hit a ball that drops right on the plate and swings out. Thinking it was a foul ball, she stepped out of the batter’s box and began doing some practice swings for the next pitch. She’s waiting for the ball to go back to the pitcher and doesn’t realize the ball is FAIR! She was so focused on the next pitch she did not hear everyone in the stands yelling at her to RUN! Finally, she realized it was a live ball and she ran from the catcher up the third base line before breaking away to sprint to first base…. No joke, it was the funniest and cutest thing ever. Except if you are Lyla. She realized she was out and tried her best not to cry and of course, my heart was breaking for her!
The lesson I took away from Lyla? You always run! ALWAYS!!!!
It’s Mother’s Day – we are honoring and thanking all the super moms out there. The lesson from poor Lyla’s mistake is that we have to always listen for an opportunity and GO FOR IT! Lyla learned from this experience to consider all balls fair until it’s called foul. That’s so beautiful, why not do that in life? Take a risk. Take a chance. And never, until someone tells us different, should we consider our dreams impossible.
As women, we are here to lift each other up. Support each other. Be kind and loving and always, ALWAYS go for our dreams. There is no time for regrets, only opportunities.
Lyla, bless her heart – will always RUN without hesitation and take every opportunity that comes her way. We sure hope you do the same.
You have one life; live it! And always run until you hear that ball called foul.
